The 2025 Morningstar Awards for Investing Excellence (Singapore), held in partnership with The Edge, took place on April 9 at Chijmes Hall. This prestigious event recognised outstanding funds and asset managers that have demonstrated exceptional performance and investor-centric practices over the long term.
Event Highlights
The evening commenced with a welcome reception at 6:30 PM, and an opening presentation delivered by Mr. Wing Chan, our very own Head of Manager Research, Asia Pacific on the latest trends shaping the growth of the globally asset management industry.
What followed next was a panel discussion “Public vs Private Markets: Personalising a Portfolio for Modern Investors. Moderated by Mr. Wing Chan, the conversation brought together leading voices from the local asset management industry – with Ms. Cynthia Lai, Head, Managed Solutions Advisory, Bank of Singapore, Mr. Dharit Shah, Portfolio Manager, DBS, Mr. Kevin Wong, Head, Investment Committee, L-Bridge Capital and Mr. Wong Meng Keet, Head of Managed Product Solutions and Alternative Investments, UOB – in an engaging discussion about the evolving role of portfolio personalization in a landscape shaped by changing investor expectations, increased market complexity, and a growing appetite for diversification beyond traditional assets.
The awards portion of the evening recognised excellence across a wide range of categories. These included top-performing fixed income and equity fund categories, as well as an accolade for the best asset manager in Singapore. To kickstart the awards ceremony, Mr. Shihan Abeyguna, Managing Director of Southeast Asia at Morningstar, emphasized the importance of Morningstar being able to provide clear and actionable insights for investors in a world rife with uncertainty and volatility.
Additionally, Mr. Shihan Abeyguna also highlighted three key forces that are shaping the investing landscape in the future, (1) exploding investment choices, (2) advancements in data and technology, and (3) the growing demand for personalization.
Turning to the night’s top honours, the Best Asia Equity Fund Award went to Schroder Asian Equity Yield A, with Capital Group New Economy (LUX)B picking up the Best Global Equity Fund Award, and ABF Pan Asia Bond Index winning the Best Global and Asian Bond Fund Award. Completing the list of winners, Dimensional Fund Advisors Pte. Ltd picked up the Best Asset Manager Award.
The Edge Singapore Best Funds Awards were also presented, honoring exceptional funds that have demonstrated consistent performance and value for investors. The evening concluded with closing remarks, while attendees continued to engage in lively discussion about market trends, regulatory developments, and the future of fund management in the region
